The second CARICS International Fine Arts Festival is scheduled for March 14 at S Hotel Conference and Event Centre in Montego Bay. Like the inaugural show last year, it will showcase the work of established and emerging artists and artisans.

A switch in venue from the Old Hospital Park is the lone change from 2019, says founder and chief organiser Oniel Cunningham.

“The format of the event remains the same. There will be fine art and craft exhibits from several local artists and artisans, and we anticipate that there will be a few pieces from some foreign artists,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Last year’s event featured creatives from Jamaica, Antigua, Ghana, the United Kingdom and Australia…

It has been almost 20 years since Oniel Cunningham and a business partner came up with the idea for a fine arts festival in their hometown of Montego Bay. That festival would help expose local and Caribbean talent.

Through a recently launched company, Caribbean Community Society Limited, they will stage the CARICS International Fine Arts Festival in March at Montego Bay Convention Centre………

An architect by profession, Cunningham has been an art lover for many years and toyed with the idea of staging a fine arts festival in his hometown. With the logistics settled………

The Caribbean Community Society Limited (CARICS) is highly anticipating its upcoming International Fine Arts Festival.

Selected works will be previewed in an introductory exhibit next March that will expose western Jamaica to Caribbean artists and their works.

The preview exhibit, which will be held at Gloucester Avenue, Montego Bay, on March 9, 2019, will be the latest result of CARICS’s contributions to development through promotion of the arts, which the organisation has pursued since 2010………
